Diabetic retinopathy: Visual impairment





Diabetic retinopathy is the main cause of vision failure amongst the Adolescence of the developing and the developed countries . There are 25 times more chances of Diabetic patients likely to become blind than non-diabetic patients . Diabetic retinopathy is a situation of diabetes to the retina and to the blood vessels. It is a symptom-less disease in the early stages and it could lead to permanent vision loss if it is untreated for long time. Here is a difficulty for the patients that they may not know about it, until it reaches highest stage. Once it reaches advanced stages vision loss becomes unavoidable. Diabetic retinopathy is the third major cause of blindness mainly in India.

Symptoms

Symptoms may not become noticeable at early stages of disease, but the normal symptoms of retinopathy to look out for include:


  • Sudden changes in vision
  • Distorted vision
  • Blurred vision
  • Floaters in your vision
  • Seeing dark spots or patches
  • Reduction in night vision

An Experience after a Lasik Eye Surgery

A Lasik eye surgery is completely an outpatient procedure and it is one of the quickest surgeries when it comes to eye treatment. The procedure lasts about 10 to 20 minutes and it is performed after sedation. This is with the help of specialized eye drops that also protect the eye during the procedure. The effect of the eye drop may take a couple of eye to completely fade away from the eyes and when it does, one may feel a little pain.
